Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC) is looking for Teaching Artists
About:
Each site-specific residency is unique and developed to meet the needs of the individual school. Residencies generally range in length from 12-16 weeks (with the bulk of residencies occurring in Spring), and are carefully planned by BAC Arts in Education, the partner school, and Teaching Artist.
Through our residencies, BAC provides and promotes quality arts education programs that:
- Foster creativity and imagination
- Expand verbal and non-verbal communication skills
- Enhance capacities for critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Fortify social-emotional skills
- Support student-cantered, culturally responsive learning
- Teaching Artists in the following disciplines are particularly encouraged to apply hip-hop dance, digital media, vocal and/or instrumental music, and puppetry.

Job Type: Full-time
Salary:
The BAC Teaching Artist pay scale is based on experience and expertise. Our Teaching Artists, on average, earn $60/hour. Teaching Artists are also paid for planning time, and BAC covers the cost of supplies.
Responsibilities:
- Designing and executing an age-appropriate, project-based arts curriculum.
- Preparing for and producing culminating presentations at assigned site(s).
- Collaborating effectively with co-workers and communicating regularly with supervisory staff.
- Submitting complete lessons plans, timesheets, reports, and other vital administrative documentation in a timely manner.
