Strides Toronto is a new multi-service agency providing services to young people from birth to age 29 and their families in East Toronto. Formed in January 2020 through the amalgamation of Aisling Discoveries and East Metro Youth Services, Strides Toronto provides a range of community, residential and treatment services to improve the mental, social, and physical health of infants, children, youth and their families. We provide individual, group and family interventions that include mental health counselling, autism services, education, outreach and referral, early intervention, day treatment and community support.

Description:
As Lead Agency for infant, child and youth mental health in Toronto, Strides Toronto works with 25 core service providers to design and implement system-level improvements that transform access to services, experience of services and the mental health outcomes for Toronto’s diverse communities.
Strides Toronto has a budget of $30 million and more than 350 employees providing services out of 19 locations across East Toronto. The organization Is accredited by the Centre for Accreditation and the predecessor organizations have a long history of providing high-quality services in East Toronto.
This role will be responsible for cultivating, leveraging and maintaining strong relationships with the community and partners, day-to-day management of the youth wellness hub sites, supervision of the integrated services teams, coordination of integrated services with partners/contracted services for quality improvements and further program development. May be responsible for either one or both sites.
Responsibilities:
- Provide management oversight of the integrated service teams/programs in the Scarborough and/or Toronto East site Youth Wellness Hubs and ensure cohesive, high functioning service delivery, operations and administrative duties.
- Support direct reports through coaching, mentoring and performance management supervision.
- Champion situations with minimal details – can develop what’s needed on-the-go and build on tasks and activities in order to bring ideas to fruition.
- Manage the accountabilities under the Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario framework including hours of operation, data systems, principles and values, core components work plans, youth engagement, family engagement and network governance structures (at the service coordination and client engagement levels).
- Attend Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario lead meetings and activities.
- Exhibit strong documentation skills to be able to tell the story of the work and showcase the program’s accomplishments.
- Able to use a toolkit of management skills to manage direct and indirect reports to achieve service targets and quality outcomes.
- Problem-solve gaps in infrastructure, planning and resources with positive disposition to create opportunities and success outcomes.
- Ensure own leadership presence is aligned with hours of the Hub sites; must be flexible and include evenings and weekends as required for program support needs.
- Provide effective coordination leadership to the Youth Wellness Hubs staff, programs and partnerships (Scarborough YWHO Network and Toronto East YWHO Network), while also working with the CAMH Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario backbone/support team.
- Strategize with Strides Toronto leadership to develop the 1200 Markham site programs and partnerships as a fully branded and structured Youth Wellness Hub.
- Manage contracted services and the respective service agreements.
- Provide leadership in developing effective site-specific service delivery plans, community safety initiatives and youth engagement activities.
- Seek the perspectives of diverse populations, including Francophone, Indigenous, Black (African, Caribbean) and other groups in the development of program plans that meet the needs of the Scarborough and Toronto East Youth Wellness Hubs’ communities.
- Model solution-focused thinking, appreciative inquiry, conflict resolution, harm reduction and an anti-oppressive practice.
- Must be flexible to participate in Agency “On-Call” duties.
Requirements:
- A master’s degree in social work, Psychology, Mental Health, Community Development or a related regulated health field.
- Member of a regulated health professional body
- 3 years of direct experience in working with and engaging youth and families.
- 2 years of supervisory experience, with proven ability to motivate staff.
- Demonstrated experience working with multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary health teams in the coordination of services.
- Solid understanding of children and youth mental health; disabilities, and other challenges.
- Able to rally new and existing partners to function within an evidence-informed model of service delivery
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and computer literacy skills.
- Comfortable with public speaking and facilitating meetings.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with other departments, both internally and externally to develop and execute complex programs across a variety of geographies.
- Awareness of the diverse needs of the demographic populations in the East York and Scarborough communities, and how to research for a better understanding
- Strong coordination, project management and program planning skills for the scheduling of staff/multiple services in a shared program space
- Bilingual in both official languages is considered an asset.
- Vulnerable sector screening police background check required
- Fluency in other languages
