FINCO Search is working with a global private bank looking to add a senior private banker to its Dubai office, focused on the East African region (Mauritius, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Somalia, Burundi, Zambia etc.) covering private clients, both HNWI and UHNWI (high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals). To facilitate the next phase of their growth the firm is focused on its emerging markets capabilities and to assist in this growth, East Africa has become a key target for them. The Dubai office works closely with its global established offices and senior RM’s / private bankers across asset classes/markets.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Onboard existing relationships to the private bank across HNW and UHNW private clients in the East African region (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Somalia, Burundi, Eritrea, Mozambique, Madagascar, Sudan, Zambia, Mauritius Seychelles, Zimbabwe etc.) and establish product lines from the bank into your existing portfolio
• Offer financial advisory, investment and market advisory/fiduciary services to clients and actively promote the firm and its growing product lines across private banking services
• Work closely with internal product specialist teams on structuring suitable wealth management product suites for clients across East Africa
• Actively upsell and cross-sell the bank’s services across traditional wealth management provisions and technological products/services
• Liaise with other offices/RM’s to facilitate best in class service to clients at all times
• Meet with clients in the region and build/maintain relationships across both HNW and UHNW individuals in East Africa
• Keep up to date with market research and analysis to ensure capitalization on opportunities in a timely manner
• Utilizing the bank’s services to the best of their ability and matching these to clients’ needs at all times.

Experience:

• 5+ years’ experience managing a book of East African clients (HNW/UHNW) within a private bank or wealth management firm
• Established book of business (circa 50MM USD AUM or higher in the first year) with the ability to transfer this portfolio to a new bank – ideally a grown book rather than inherited with a proven rapport with private clients in the region
• Excellent understanding of the financial markets/wealth models in East Africa and the relevant accompanying compliance statutes
• Solid understanding of both traditional and modern wealth management practices/services and experience of structuring products to clients’ needs
• Fluent in English and Swahili or other local languages
• Based in Dubai or able to relocate.
