About:
Oak Park and River Forest High School, or OPRF, is a comprehensive public high school located in Oak Park, Ill., a suburb eight miles due west of downtown Chicago. We are a one-school district, with most of our students coming from two sender districts, River Forest Public Schools District 90 and Oak Park Elementary School District 97. We offer more than 200 courses, a variety of programs for students with special needs, 75 clubs and activities, and 29 competitive sports. We prepare our students well for post-secondary success, with an average ACT composite score of 24 and a 94% graduation rate.
Oak Park and River Forest are communities that highly value diversity. Job Type: Temporary for 2nd semester
Note:
Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. during the hybrid instruction in the second semester of the 2020-2021 school year. This position is not eligible for fringe benefits. The position is “at-will” and will continue if the administration deems necessary to support classroom instruction. There is no guarantee of assignment upon transition into full in-person learning.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong rapport with students, staff, parents, and community.
- Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the assignment.
- Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Reliable transportation.
Job Summary:
Oak Park and River Forest High School District 200 is seeking individuals for temporary placements as Safety Monitors to assist with monitoring students in the hallways, cafeteria, classrooms or other areas in the building and encourage safe and appropriate school conduct and behavior.
Essential Functions:
- Monitor students entering and exiting the building and classrooms.
- Support a positive and welcoming environment.
- Encourage appropriate hallway behavior.
- Encourage purposeful travel between passing periods.
- Encourage a prompt arrival to class.
- Decrease hallway distractions that interfere with classroom instruction.
- Assist with temperature checks.
- Discourage students from congregating near the entrances.
- Monitor school hallways during passing periods and regular class times.
- Patrol and monitor restrooms during passing periods.
- Ensure that students conduct themselves appropriately and safely under the district’s current Safety Plan guidelines by maintaining adequate social distancing, mandatory mask usage, and proper handling of other requisite PPE.
- Provide ongoing communication to administrators regarding student safety concerns.
- Report and document violations of school policies.
- Promote an image of professionalism and safety while performing job duties.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
