Job Description:

The PR and Communications Manager is an essential senior manager in the AOP Marketing Department and will bring a previously outsourced function in house. This role is suitable for independent minded self-starters who enjoy the challenge of growing a new company sub-department. This is an outward facing role, with responsibility to engage global media partners and to ensure that AOP’s core messages and content are consistently and actively communicated to our audience.

Job duties:

  • Engage media partners globally and manage media relations, online and in person, for all AOP events and projects. This is a core job function.
  • Help define and articulate AOP’s values, message and branding to our global and African audiences, and media.
  • Build relationships with multiple stakeholders across the public and private sector, media, associations, and clients, in different countries across Africa and around the world.
  • Work with event programming, marketing, content, design, and other departments to ensure delivery of PR and communications goals
  • Must be able to write and edit press releases and statements.
  • Assemble and work with third party suppliers to ensure project needs are met.
  • Serve AOP’s communications and PR needs alongside those of its client base.
  • Must be able to learn quickly about the African energy sector and showcase this knowledge to stakeholders.
