Pepper Pot Day Centre is looking for a Project Officer

Reporting to: Director
Main Objectives:
- To encourage and attract new members to the centre and to devise strategies to continually increase the membership base of Pepper Pot.
- To receive and process details of referrals to the centre from other agencies.
- To combat isolation, depression, loneliness amongst older people from Caribbean backgrounds and other BME communities.
- To manage the Centre’s marketing strategy, enhancing its brand and reputation, maximising its profile and social media engagement.
- To develop, support and manage projects initiated by the Board of Trustees or the Centre manager.
Main Responsibilities:
- To manage the Centre’s marketing strategy publicising the services and activities of the organisation through various marketing strategies e.g. digital media, leaflet distribution, newspaper editorials, open days, and word of mouth.
- To support and monitor the needs and well-being of the elderly, including those housebound or affected by loneliness, isolation and depression, by visiting them in their homes and by telephone, Zoom, FaceTime, WhatsApp etc, also by expanding the Meals & Wheels service.
- To work with Pepperpot fundraisers, Manager and other interested parties to ensure that Centre income is maximised
- Maintain strategic partnerships with other statutory organisations, voluntary groups and commercial companies in RBKC and neighbouring boroughs.
- Produce written reports to the management committee with relevant monitoring statistics where appropriate especially those showing how the Centre is successful in combating isolation, loneliness and depression.
- To manage and develop projects that support and enhance the operation of the Centre.
- Support the manager to receive and take action on referrals made to the centre by statutory, voluntary and other organisations by visiting the client at home (observing social distancing) to further access their needs and other services as appropriate.
- Arrange, liaise and set boundaries with various agencies and individuals who want to interact with member’s e.g. Black History Month participation, interviews of members by researchers/ radio, television, film makers or school children etc.
- Undertake any other duties for Pepper Pot Day Centre as may be reasonably required, including managing new projects, cover for Manager etc.
General Requirements:
- Work with the centres policies and procedures ensuring that they are followed in relation to the post and complying with the Data Protection Act and any other relevant legislation.
- Attend staff training meetings and team meetings as required by the manager and take an active part in the centres events e.g. AGM, cultural events etc.
- The post may involve occasional evening or weekend work for which time off in lieu will be given.
Person Specification:
- Understanding the essential needs of older people from Caribbean backgrounds and other BME communities.
- Experience of operating social media platforms.
- Good organisational and supervisory skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills and ability to write reports using Microsoft Office, Excel etc.
- A flexible approach to work.
- Ability to work to strict deadlines
- Ability to work on your own initiative.
- Ability to drive a car with a clean driving license.
- Experience of working with a management committee
- Experience of monitoring and evaluating small projects.
- Some knowledge of the Statutory and Voluntary sector.
