Artistry Youth Dance is a vibrant youth dance company that showcases and celebrates aspiring dancers of African and Caribbean descent, encouraging them to achieve success through dance. The company aims to promote diversity in dance, and provides training opportunities for young dancers, enabling them to develop their skills in dance and improve their chances of going onto further education in the Arts. The dancers are aged between 12 and 19 years. Our main dance styles are Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, and Dance forms of the African Diaspora.
Job description:
We are looking for a keen individual to work in the role of a Project Coordinator to organise and implement youth dance activities, projects, and events for Artistry Youth Dance. The role also requires coordination of our outreach programmes and internship programme.
The ideal candidate will have excellent organisation and coordination skills, an understanding of youth dance training and education, with a desire to support the development of young aspiring dance artists. A dedication to diversity within the dance sector is essential. Knowledge of policies, practices, and procedures such a Safeguarding will also be required. As the role involves working with children and young people, an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check will be required.
The role is 3 days per week (working from home). From January 2021, the applicant will need to be available on some Sundays between 10.00am – 6.00pm to support the youth dance company training, as well as during half-term projects, and some evenings.
Responsibilities:
- Managing and organising youth dance company projects, events, and activities
- Building relationships with schools/colleges
- Identifying young people to take part in our programmes
- Liaising and networking with relevant stakeholders
- Creating promotional material for programmes (including social media and PR)
- Building resource packs and collating strong case studies
- Developing work plan and line managing Intern role (from January 2021)
Requirements:
- Experience in planning, monitoring & evaluating projects
- Confident, friendly, and have a positive attitude
- Interested in dance
- GCSE or equivalent (Preferred)
- Knowledge of dance, musical theatre schools/vocational colleges
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to be flexible with time/working hours
- Organised and able to work under pressure, managing multiple tasks and deadlines.

- Knowledge in the following tools would also be useful (preferable)
- Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
- Zoom
- Mailchimp
- Photo/Video editing programmes
- Use of Social Media Platforms
