Description:

Our Client is a new organization in Houston doing work centering African- American and queer people disproportionately marginalized by multiple disparities. Our Client is implementing a new program specifically focused on ending the epidemic of HIV in Houston. The Program Coordinator will work on community collaborations and would serve as the liaison for all project operations, including the day-to-day operations of the project. They will also provide HIV testing and linkage services. The Program Coordinator will serve as the volunteer contact and community liaison to the program. This person will be responsible for the meaningful engagement of focus areas in the communities we serve.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of program participants by providing supervision of all activities.
  • Maintain accurate program documentation (participant files, data entry, attendance, sign in/out forms, incident reports, and accident reports, as appropriate).
  • Support the Executive Director and supervise all day-to-day operations and community partnerships.
  • Promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces the diversity of all participants.
  • Create and maintain a strength-based atmosphere that is consistent and sensitive to the needs of participants.
  • Assist with the creation of marketing, social media set-up, and events.
  • Perform health education classes.
  • Work with the Executive Director to secure and maintain all equipment or supplies needed.
  • Understand and communicate The Normal Anomaly Initiative’s core values and the goals of the program to participants and the community.
  • Adhere to all funder standards, expectations, and regulations.
  • Actively participate in training sessions, designated meetings, and special events.
  • Other activities and duties as needed that address the ongoing health and well-being of our staff and members.
  • Follow and maintain sanitary habits in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working in community outreach, public health, and/or social services.
  • General knowledge of iMovie, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
  • Knowledge of Access, Adobe PageMaker, Final Cut Pro, and Photoshop preferred.
  • Comfort in working with Black, same-gender-loving men, transgender people, gender non-conforming people, and non-binary people.
  • Comfort in working with people living with HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.
