We are working to ensure that People in Nova Scotia value and prioritize recreation for the positive impact it has in their lives, and have a deeper understanding of how it contributes to their health and wellbeing.

Responsibilities include:
Scheduling and facilitating/supporting board meetings; Support daily and on-going communications plan; Support and enhance the capacity of PROs to implement good governance practices; Identify gaps in organizational processes and work to address those gaps; Assist in developing a comprehensive communications plan; Broaden membership reach; Foster connections between the PRO’s and the recreation sector; Assist the PRO with developing annual work plan; Identify any professional development needs of volunteers or board members; Support identified PROs to develop/strengthen their organizational effectiveness and capacity;
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Recreation/Sport Management, Management, Community Development, Planning, Health Promotion or related field.
Skills and Knowledge:
Must be highly organized and able to complete self-directed work with minimal supervision; Knowledge around organizational effectiveness processes, theories, and modules – and ability to adapt these to each PRO’s unique needs; Program development, Planning and evaluation; Promotion and communications; Facilitation and public presentation skills; Relationship building; Analytical skills; Ability to work in a team environment and independently; Awareness of national, provincial, and regional physical activity trends, issues, promising practices and organizations; Understanding of community development principles; Knowledge of inclusion and access best practices working in cross cultural situations; Knowledge of the recreation, sport and physical activity delivery systems in the province; Technical proficiencies with Microsoft Office products.
