Job Description:
- An opportunity has arisen for a high calibre Operations Executive to oversee the strategic and operational leadership of the warehousing and logistics operation. As a key member of the South African Executive Committee you will be responsible for the operational day to day activities to ensure that all products feed business operations and customer demands.
- Bachelors’ degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management will be an advantage
- 10 years proven experience in a senior managerial role and operations essential
- Automotive sector experience
- Demonstrable competency in strategic planning, thinking and analytical skills
- Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- A decision-maker and problem solver
- Good IT skills, in particular spreadsheets and databases
Job Duties:
- Develop and implement Business Unit Strategic Plan and Management Plan
- Develop and implement expense budgets and CAPEX requirements
- Discuss and organize expenditure of budgets with stakeholders
- Implement controls to monitor budget vs. actual
- Manage shipping/import costing
- Liaise with shippers and clearing agents continuously and negotiate best rates possible
- Manage warehouse function
- Manage inventory control
- Ensure accurate stock forecasting to facilitate company required stock turn
- Establish supplier service level agreements where necessary (local)
- Ensure supplier performance and negotiate the best possible prices
- Assess suppliers and negotiate terms of business with reference to quality, price, and performance
- Establish and maintain a supplier database
- Proactively identify customer needs, and opportunities to exceed customer expectations
- Manage all procurement processes, locally and abroad
- Manage and maintain all purchasing processes
- Ensure that orders are placed timeously to ensure stock continuity at minimum levels
- Verify and maintain all vendors with regards to compliance, SARS good standing and VAT verification etc.
- Establish visible performance measures, empowering staff to understand and participate in displaying the critical performance measure of the team and the business.
