Job Description:

Sources of Strength has a full-time opening for a dynamic National Trainer that can work effectively with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds, ages, social contexts, and cultures. We are looking for engaging trainers who can facilitate highly interactive and inclusive trainings that blend games and sharing of strength stories with teens, young adults, and adult groups. The ideal candidates will have experience working with diverse communities (especially in majority Latinx, African American, and/or Native American/First Nation communities). Bilingual fluency is also highly preferred.

Functions:

The person in this position is expected to have exceptional facilitation and public speaking skills with large groups, self-motivation, strong skills in working with youth, as well as an aptitude for clear and professional communication. The ideal candidate will enjoy traveling and working with diverse communities, as well as developing and sustaining positive relationships with a variety of local leaders, clients, collaborators, and colleagues. This position requires travel of up to 12 days per month (during non COVID times, currently trainings are being provide virtually to protect staff and the communities we serve). Character traits should include high levels of positivity, humor, humility, authenticity and inclusivity.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Travel across North America providing high quality, highly engaging training to Adult Advisor and Peer Leader teams in keeping with the fidelity of the Sources of Strength evidence-based program.
  • Provide follow up support and technical assistance to designated areas in conjunction with Sources of Strength support staff.
  • Represent the organization in the prevention community; participate in ongoing mental health promotion and suicide, violence, and substance abuse prevention initiatives.
  • Complete necessary administrative tasks including logging trainer logs, expense reports, and timesheets.
  • Assist in preparation for staff meetings, webinars, phone calls, trainings, travel, and other key events.
  • Participate in core development projects, including through writing and editing.
  • Participate in collaborative strategic planning.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned by supervisor.
  • Attend quarterly supervisory meeting w/ supervisor
  • Attend regular staff meetings
  • Attend occasional coalition or task force meetings, and/or conferences as requested by supervisor

Qualifications:

This position requires educational achievement of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, previous experience working with youth, excellent public speaking skills, verbal and writing skills; demonstrable initiative, creativity, and flexibility; ability to work independently as well as effectively in groups; and strong interpersonal and organizational skills. This position requires extensive travel up to 12 days per month. Candidates must be resourceful problem-solvers and be comfortable taking leadership and ownership in a close-knit work environment. Specific requirements include the following:

  • Bilingual Fluency is highly preferred
