Description:

My client in the FMCG Industry is seeking a Strong African Gentleman who can head up Logistics: (SA Citizens ONLY). Comprehensive understanding of supply chain management for coordinating effectively and liaise with the DC, production facilities, suppliers of input materials where applicable, deal with road and transport agencies, as well as fuel management including suppliers, customers, and retailers in some instances. Management further needs to be aware of various external influences on logistics movement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the effectiveness and robust logistics related security, safety and regularity employee training programs are taken up.
  • Develop quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Manage the sourcing, tracking and reception of products and materials.

Skills and Specifications:

  • Strong business acumen, Self managing, Professional demeanor, and appearance.
  • Geographical knowledge of clients, service providers, competition, economic trends etc.
  • Negotiating skills.
  • Proficient in computers, especially spreadsheets.

Education Requirements:

  • Matric. B-tech in Transport or Logistics.
  • Logistics Senior Manager Over 10 years’ experience within logistics management.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensuring plans, organizes, and directs the fleet management operations including vehicles and equipment, fridge maintenance plan and repairs.
  • Prepare and administer fleet management budgets, oversee the tracking, reporting and expenditure of funds.
  • Plan and manage Auto track (ACS), accounting and record keeping as required for fleet management operations.
  • Collaborate with Mercedes-Benz to develop detailed specifications for vehicles and other equipment and make recommendations to address various safety issues in lieu of training interventions.

Knowledge Of:

  • Occupational hazards and standard safety precautions necessary in vehicle maintenance and repair work.
  • The principles and practices of fleet management.
  • Vehicle maintenance, repair, and testing functions. Principles and techniques of cost analysis.
  • Principles of managing services, COF, and breakdowns.
  • Evaluation of services providers in conjunction with procurement department.
  • Principle of vehicle type and services intervals per each vehicle series

Additional Requirements: Late call outs. Valid Code 14 and PDP.
