Job Summary:

The HIV/HCV Young Men who have sex with Men (YMSM) Program Coordinator responsibilities include coordination of program activities; facilitate homegrown and evidence-based intervention sessions, and general program operations. As part of In Our Own Voices, Inc. (IOOV) LGBT HEALTH Services team, the Program Coordinator will integrate and oversee HIV/STI/HCV awareness, risk assessment, counseling, and testing. Provide supervision to the HIV/HCV Test Counsellor

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate HIV prevention and related services for Young Gay Men/YMSM of colour.
  • Implement, recruit and facilitate intervention programs.
  • Network and coordinate programs with other agencies and schools in the community that serve youth-at-risk and/or with high HIV rate.
  • Provide case management, including referrals, patient navigation and linkage to care.
  • Performs HIV risk assessments and Testing.
  • Submits counseling and testing data to the Director of Operations.
  • Observe and abide by HIPAA and the HIV Confidentiality Law requirements.
  • Provide supervision to the HIV/HCV Test Counsellor.

Qualifications:

  • Commits to In Our Own Voices, Inc. mission, vision, and core values.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred and highly recommended.
  • At least three-five years of experience in clinical or community level HIV interventions, adolescent development, counseling or psychosocial assessment.
  • At least two years of experience in clinical and/or community level HIV interventions, adolescent development, counseling, or psychosocial assessment.
  • Knowledge of social service systems and resources as they relate to HIV/STI/HCV and YMSM youth population.
  • Knowledge and comfort with LGBTQ, HIV/AIDS prevention education, PEP, PrEP and sexual health issues.
  • Demonstrated group facilitation skills, excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Certified in HIV counseling and testing strongly preferred or ability to obtain certification within three months of employment.
  • Spanish speaking a plus.
  • Knowledge and skills in working in a team effort.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours (includes after hours and weekends).
