About AREF:

The Africa Research Excellence Fund (AREF) is a charitable foundation that invests in developing talented young African health researchers. AREF is now looking for a Head of Fundraising to join our team, leading and managing our fundraising activities

Location: London

Job Type: Full-time

Responsibilities:

• Develop opportunities to secure gifts from Trusts and Foundations, Corporates, Major Donors and other grant-giving bodies
• Ensure excellent relationship management with all prospects, donors and funders
• Refresh the fundraising strategy to maximise income for immediate and long-term needs
• Develop monitoring systems, reporting procedures and due diligence processes to support continued growth of fundraising income
• The post-holder can expect occasional travel throughout Africa, the UK and globally.

Requirements:

• Substantial experience working in a senior charity fundraising position
• Track record of securing five- and six-figure donations
• Significant experience of Trusts & Foundations and Major Donor fundraising
• Experience of fundraising for health research or international development
• Excellent writing skills
• Outstanding skills in relationship-building with prospects, donors, trustees and colleagues
• Strong organisational, analytical and budgetary management skills
