Overall Function:
Under the direct supervision of the Program Supervisor/Mental Health Specialist, the Group Facilitator will conduct group intervention activities/support groups for the Black Infant Health Program to African American women who are pregnant and postpartum using the approved curriculum.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain a Group Intervention Schedule
- Conduct and co-facilitate prenatal and postpartum groups
- Document Client participation
- Participate in Case Conference Activities
- Maintain on file up-to-date client records, current copies of BIH Group Curriculums, BIH Program Standards
- Networks with other involved service providers in the community
- Maintains confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA regulations
Qualifications:
- BA Degree or enrolment in a college/university in women/maternal, child/infant health, social work, health education, or human services development
- 1 year of experience providing direct services to the target population, performing tasks related to the program
- Fully embraces and supports the BIH Governing Concepts of cultural competence, client-centred, strength-based, and utilization of cognitive skill building approaches
- Knowledge of socio-cultural experiences compatible for pregnant African American women and children
- Possess knowledge of women’s health, including prenatal and postpartum health.
- Possess knowledge of breastfeeding, nutrition, and physical activity
- Demonstrates strong group facilitation skills
- Excellent written/oral communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Computer literate
