Primary Accountabilities:
Projects include bedrock and surficial geological mapping, environmental geology, mineral inventory and metallogenic studies, geochemistry, hydrogeology, evaluation of select industrial mineral sites, and geographic information systems/geological database compilation. All positions are based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Qualifications & Experience:
The positions that are being offered are appropriate for students currently enrolled in a Geoscience (or equivalent) Program. To be considered for these positions, candidates must have completed at least their second year of study and be registered in a Geoscience (or equivalent) program. Students must have a grade average of at least 60% in their geoscience courses (an official or unofficial transcript must be submitted with application) and the student must be returning to school as a full-time student in a Geoscience (or equivalent) program in the fall 2021. Preference may be given to students from Nova Scotia or those enrolled in Nova Scotia universities.
We are looking for candidates who have good oral and written communication skills, are self-starting and can work in a team-oriented environment, sometimes with minimal supervision. Computer literacy and a demonstrated ability to acquire new computer and/or field skills are assets. Many of the positions are field-oriented; therefore, successful candidates for these positions must be able to undertake work of a physical nature and must have a valid driver’s license to fulfil occupational health and safety requirements.
