About Gallery:
Established in 1966, The David Barnett Gallery is Wisconsin’s premier art gallery with the broadest range of art available in the region, including works of art that represent more than 600 artists. The gallery specializes in European and American masters, regional and nationally recognized artists and emerging artists. Latin American, Asian, and African American as well as Ethnographic art from Africa, Indonesia, and Oceania are represented. The gallery has a national reputation for its extensive collection of Picasso ceramics and Milton Avery oil paintings. In addition, the gallery provides professional art consultation, art appraisals, restoration and conservation, custom picture framing, lighting, delivery, installation services, and custom giclée printing.

Job Summary:
David Barnett Gallery is seeking a full-time Gallery Manager. Applicants must have full-time availability Tuesday-Saturday, as well as flexibility for occasional evening events, and must be able to start immediately.
The ideal candidate must be highly organized with excellent verbal and written communication skills. A Bachelor’s degree in Art, Art History, Arts Administration, Business, or a related field is required. Experience working in the arts, marketing, sales, and administration is required. Experience in non-profit management is a plus. Bookkeeping and computer skills are essential, and the applicant must be able to prioritize and balance multiple tasks simultaneously with a strong attention to detail. The ability to multi-task and remain organized throughout many tasks with varying levels of complexity and urgency is also necessary. Both creative and analytical thinking are required daily.
Duties:
Managing inventory, coordinating gallery activities including working with artists and clients, managing exhibitions, appraisals, answering telephones, sending out press releases to media and posting exhibitions online, public relations, maintaining office equipment and computer software, curatorial and directorial assistance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field
- Prior administrative experience, including basic accounting and database management
- Proficient writing skills
- Arts and Arts Management experience
- Knowledge of Art History
- Proficiency with MS Office and experience with Adobe programs
