Zatzman Sportsplex is looking for a Facility Events and Sport Supervisor
About:
The Zatzman Sportsplex, built in 1982, is a family-focused health, fitness, and recreation complex that serves Dartmouth’s communities and all regions of the Halifax Regional Municipality. The facility hosts a variety of facilities and services including a double gymnasium, a large fitness centre, community spaces, two swimming pools, an NHL sized arena with seating for 3,000 people, and so much more. In addition, the facility also sponsors a large-scale community outreach and accessibility program to reduce barriers and ensure that everyone in our community can play at the Sportsplex.

The Zatzman Sportsplex is seeking an energetic recreation professional to supervise sport, day camp, and youth programming, as well as assist with rental bookings for the facility. The successful candidate will be a dynamic individual with a passion for recreation and its impact on the health of our community.

Responsibilities:
- Holds a Bachelor of Recreation, Diploma in Recreation Leadership, or a suitable combination of education and experience.
- Has knowledge and experience in a wide variety of sports, most notably: basketball, hockey, soccer, and pickleball. Additional sports would be considered an asset.
- Has experience working with youth.
- Has experience working in a day camp or residential camp setting.
- Is self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable leading a team of staff.
- Has a positive customer service perspective.
- Is competent in coordinating recreation programs and curriculum and has a moderate level of computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Legend Recreation Software would be considered an asset.
- Has experience working in a multi-faceted, fast-paced recreation facility.
- Values and respects diversity in all its forms.
Work with Us:
This is a full time (40-hours/week), salary-based position, covering evenings and weekends. Regular overtime will be required. This position reports to the Facility Events and Sport Coordinator.
Preference will be given to candidates who have High Five, Coaching, WHMIS, First Aid, and Fundamental Movement Skills qualifications. This is a hands-on position that will require the successful candidate to work closely with program staff and participants to provide leadership, input, and ensure quality programs. Criminal record and child abuse registry checks will be required.
