Background:
The CEC is a non-profit, multi-use community centre in the heart of the Pine Street Historic District in Cambridge, Maryland. The Pine Street Historic District is a vibrant African American community with a rich history and was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 2012. The CEC is governed by a Board of Directors who oversee the programs and the use and care of the building.
Our mission is to be an ongoing resource for children and adults, to improve their lives and to help them grow and reach their dreams. We work in partnership with the community to provide youth development through education, skills training, mentoring and other support services. Additionally, we strive to inspire confidence, self-esteem, a desire for lifelong learning and to contribute to the health and well-being of the City of Cambridge’s youth and community.

Position:
The Cambridge Empowerment Center (CEC) is seeking a motivated, innovative, and community-minded Executive Director who will be responsible for implementing the vision, programs and policies established by the Board of Directors as well as leading the day-to-day operations of the center.
Job Description:
- The Board of Directors of the CEC seeks candidates with strong skills in the following areas:
- Relationship cultivation and community-building
- Program development and monitoring
- Digital marketing and branding
- Volunteer recruitment, training and retention
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cultivate and nurture relationships by meeting regularly with community partners, families, volunteers, and other key stakeholders.
- Consistent communication with the Board of Directors.
- Use digital marketing and targeted branding strategies to raise awareness in the community about our activities, needs and overall organization.
- Develop goals, programs, metrics and policies that advance the mission of the center.
- Recruit, train and maintain an active network of volunteers.
- Develop and manage a comprehensive fundraising strategy
Qualifications:
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of our mission, community and the history of Pine Street
- Entrepreneurial with ability to work independently
- Work in collaboration with diverse groups of people
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the administration, operations and programming of a nonprofit organization
- Leadership and management experience
- Evidence of a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
- Minimum of an undergraduate degree in a field of study pertinent or related to the operation of a community center
- Strong marketing, public relations and fundraising experience
- Effective written and verbal communications skills including fluency in Office365

- Must submit to a background check including criminal history and drug screen.
- Must not be present on the National Sex Offender Registry.
