Responsibilities:
The Department of Visual, Performing, and Communication Arts at Johnson C. Smith University invites applications for a one-year, renewable visiting assistant professor position beginning Fall 2019.
Teaching responsibilities include but are not limited to teaching all levels of Ballet and Modern technique, one of the three: Dance Conditioning, Injury-prevention, or Somatic techniques, as well as Pointe or Tap. Experience teaching African dance forms is preferred.
Experience and credentials to teach research-based writing and creative processes within the arts are necessary as is the ability to collaborate with other artistic disciplines in the interdisciplinary degree programs is desired.
Other faculty responsibilities include advising students within the Dance major and minor and recruiting for the major and minor programs.
Qualifications:
Master of Fine Arts or other terminal degree required. Johnson C. Smith University is a private liberal arts university in Charlotte, NC, with proud HBCU traditions and a future aimed at diversity.
