Description:

Dotdash is looking for writers and editors with a background in economic inequality to join an Anti-Bias Review Board focused on Personal Finance and Investing content.

This board is a cornerstone initiative to ensure our content is inclusive, free from bias, and services people of all races, genders, ages, abilities, and sexual orientations. This is a remote, contract position but all reviewers must be based in the United States.

Requirements:

  • You have a degree in a field such as Economics, African American Studies, Social Justice, Public Health, Human Rights, Equity Studies, Community Action, Gender Studies, Women’s Studies, or American History
  • You have deep understanding of and empathy with the needs and challenges of under-served communities and under-represented populations
  • You are a strong advocate, writer, editor, communicator, and educator both for members of those communities and for those seeking to communicate with them
  • You have experience reviewing and remediating content and illustrations across a wide range of topics and media for issues of representation, implicit, and explicit bias
  • You have experience in the health, finance, technology, or lifestyle industries.
  • You understand and respect issues related to conscious language, diversity and inclusivity initiatives, and content integrity

About Your Contributions:

  • Assess both the substance of our content and the way it is communicated for explicit and implicit bias
  • Review and suggest changes for content and images to ensure inclusivity and sensitivity
  • Flag areas of content that can be improved to provide further context, address overlooked questions, and include details critical for BIPOC and other underserved groups
  • Help write guidelines for reviewing and updating content
