Bow Valley College in partnership with College of the Rockies and Selkirk College are offering overseas internship placements through the International Youth Internship Program (IYIP).
The International Youth Internship Program offers Canadian post-secondary graduates the opportunity to gain professional experience through international development work. The program, which is funded by Global Affairs Canada, is part of the Government of Canada’s Youth Employment Strategy.
Note:
It is a six-month international position, based in the country described for this posting. These positions are available to:
Canadian citizens or permanent residents
Individuals between the ages of 19 and 30
A post-secondary graduate — a graduate of a degree or diploma program from a university, college, post-secondary school of technology, post-secondary institute or a CEGEP (By May 2022)
Have not previously participated in an internship within the Global Affairs IYIP initiative (formerly CIDA and DFATD)
Legally entitled to work in Canada
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Head of the Department of E-learning and External Linkages and Alumni Office, the incumbent in this internship will:
- Support the new RVTTI Alumni Office in developing and implementing its alumni service delivery model.
- Focus on conducting tracer studies and interviews of previous year alumni in selected programs.
- Identify successes and obstacles to employment faced post-graduation of the program, and identify gender roles within the sectors.
- Analyse the contributing factors to post-graduate employment, including family support, program support, and issues presented by the local economy.
- Prepare recommendations based on tracer study results to improve graduate employment outcomes.
- Carry out a survey (in written or oral form) of graduates from RVTTI sometime after graduation or the end of the training.
Requirements:
- Minimum of a Diploma or Bachelors in Business, Social Work, Public Relations,
- Communications or relevant higher education
Qualities:
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, communications and diplomacy/tact skills required.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and to identify tasks to work on.
- Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving and computer skills (Microsoft Office), strong communication and customer service skills.
- Resilience and adaptability to identify work tasks independently
- Superior communication and speaking skills
- Excellent administrative and organizational skills
- Strong decision making and problem-solving ability
