Description:

This role collaborates with; and manages contracted growers to achieve the budgeted yield, cost, and quality targets whilst also providing technical support. This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of the operational targets, including compliance with related contract agreements, sustainability targets, and the development of those strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement the annual planting programs and harvest cycles “seed to silo” Implementation to achieve yield volume and quality forecasts.
  • Ensure planting and harvesting windows are on track and report and deviations and or risks to the Agri Competence Manager.
  • Plan and implement supporting logistics from seed collections through cleaning and storage, distribution, harvest planning, coordination, collection, storage, quality controls, tracking, and reporting to export or milling preparations.
  • Lead and build the management of the Grain Division that includes growers, logistics, handling and storage, milling as well as linking to export grain market division.
  • Co-ordinate meetings with regards to operational, technical, and supply chain partners to ensure cost, planning, quality efficiencies, and targets.
  • Provide technical support to the farmers/growers in reducing costs, achieving yields and quality opportunities.
  • Develop, implement and monitor the Standard Operating Procedures across each grower region.
  • Implementing, tracking reporting on certifications, compliance, and sustainability reporting across the grains supply chain
  • Developing innovative improvements to yields, quality, the competitiveness of grains production programs.
  • Overseeing efficiency of all company operations and production plan.
  • Manage the field officers/supervisors in conjunction with their deliverables.
  • Leadership and development of the Field officers/supervisors team and succession planning to support the business and team culture.
  • Compile reports required by the Agri team for upstream reporting.
  • Managing and reporting to CEO monthly on the business risk matrix
  • Take full responsibility for achieving annual production targets.
  • Negotiate pricing and buy-back agreements with growers.
  • Manage the full process of onboarding and Implement and manage the contract farming agreements.
  • To measurably build the RedSun Seeds value chain in the fulfillment of the companys mission of non-GMO seed to silo cultivation and export.
  • Compilation and management of the budget for outside business and internal business.
  • Work within the scope of the budgeted forecasts.
  • Business unit administration and compliance process, including budgeting, tracking, reporting, controls required to achieve annual business plans.
  • Develop and implement all cost planning and controls to optimize the production process.
  • Drive innovation opportunities and cost efficiencies.
  • Develop and improve specialist knowledge network and industry knowledge of competitors, growers, new products, technology, horticultural practices to drive quality, cost, and service.
  • Actively strive to build a performance-driven organizational culture and results.
  • This business is responsible for managing the value chain of appointed millers.
  • Plan and manage the purchase of grain, storage of grains, financing of grain, and the logistical supply of the grain.
  • Develop an economically sustainable raw material grains acquisition business within Live Kindly.
  • Develop an economically sustainable raw material procurement policy for grains to improve the economic viability.
  • Drawing up and managing the budget for raw material procurement.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum B.Sc. / MBA degree in agriculture, agronomy, economics related fields.
  • Minimum 10-15 years’ experience in large scale commercial grains planning and logistics farming.
  • Experience as a General Manager executive of a large agricultural operation
  • Proven technical grain cropping experience knowledge and an understanding of Southern African grains farming conditions.
  • Strong Financial acumen on budgets, costing, and contracts
  • Ability to work with modern farming technology and innovations towards regenerative farming targets.
  • Project management experience
