Job Overview:

The ACE Programme was launched by Surrey County Cricket Club in January 2020 in response to the decline of the black British player in the professional sport by around 75%, and in the recreational game representation of less than 1%. The ACE Programme was designed to engage young people of African and Caribbean Heritage and a talent search was launched. In October 2020, following significant investment from Sport England, The ACE Programme Charity launched as an independent charity following the success of an ACE Academy with 25 scholars in a bid to have a wider national impact. The charity aims to ‘Support Diverse Talent from the Grassroots to the Elite’.

The purpose of the role is to increase participation predominantly within the black British communities by supporting and improving the experience of everyone involved whether they play, attend or follow the game.

The administrator will provide direct support to the Director of Programmes on the running of the ACE Programme and provide support the wider team in the development of community, school and club based cricketing opportunities, through both coaching and competition.

This role seeks an energetic and enthusiastic individual who has a passion for supporting and developing diverse communities and working with multiple partners and organisations. The role combines general administration, fundraising and development work and will be responsible for engaging people from diverse communities of all ages nationally into becoming active members of the cricketing community.

Note: The role will be based at the Oval Cricket Grounds.

Role Outline & General Duties:

  • Work with the Director of programmes to support and deliver ACE cricket programmes nationally. Main areas of work within this role will include:
  • Lead the administration support on all the ACE programme activities
  • Monitor post and emails for the Director of programmes and respond to situations as required
  • Assist the Director of programmes with the day-to-day financial requirements of the charity
  • Act as secretariat at various meetings
  • Collate and distribute information to relevant parties
  • Update and maintain ACE website and social media channels
  • Support and work with key county stakeholders in the delivery of all key ACE programme events
  • Ongoing and effective diary management
  • Support the ACE programme team in the delivery of other cricket development activities
  • Monitor and report on all aspects of the work programmes including completion of monthly activity reports for submission to relevant ACE Programme trustees, funders and partner organisations
  • Provide any additional administration that is created through the role.

Education and Training:

  • Remain up to date – commit to an appropriate professional development programme in order to develop the role further.
  • Support national programmes at key events, sessions and meetings.

The successful candidate will have the following experience / skills / qualities:

Requirements:

  • 1 years’ experience in a similar role, either paid or voluntary
  • Experience of working within diverse communities
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to respond to tight deadlines
  • Strong communicator who works well in a team
  • Ability to learn quickly, use their initiative and have a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Good computer literacy, including MS Office
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of social media, website management, online booking systems
  • Comfortable with managing team diaries
  • Experience of co-ordinating events and fundraising
  • Some flexibility around working hours including evening working
  • Satisfactory ECB DBS Check

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of key cricketing national programmes: Chance to Shine, All Stars and Dynamos Cricket national programmes
  • Experience in communicating with state primary and secondary schools
  • Experience of booking casual staff including submitting payroll
  • Clean driving licence
