Description:
Jamestown Community Center Summer 2021 program will prevent summer learning loss and support students with learning recovery due to COVID-19 for a minimum of 300 low-income Latino and African American youth through a summer program providing high quality enrichment activities, academic support, arts and physical activities at two to three different sites in San Francisco. These activities will be provided in-person and virtually by following all department of health safety and health guidelines. Additionally, we will help prevent food insecurity by providing two meals and a snack for each youth during the summer program, as well as sponsoring local food distribution at each of the summer program sites at least once per week for the length of the Jamestown summer program.
Member Duties:
Summer Associates will work one of Three Roles:
- Summer Enrichment Teachers with a class of 12 youth for 6 hours per day.
- Two hours per day will be spent on lesson planning, peer review, program planning and logistical support and professional development and training.
- Summer food Coordinators, supervising ordering and food delivery and distribution for the youth in the summer program and organizing and supervising the distribution of food to low-income families at our site distribution centres at each summer program site once per week.
- Summer program coordinator handling attendance, communications, management of enrichment partners, and services to high needs youth and families.
- They will be communicators and constantly monitor and assess student and family needs as related to meeting their basic needs.
