Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the liaison between HQ-Cape Town and various partners during opening and buildout phases, and to evolve and grow our multiple core businesses:  espresso bar service, European-style bakery, patisserie & confectionery production, coffee & tea retailing, catering, and wholesale channels.
  • Deliver all store and related commissary openings in designated territory, in accordance with the agreed opening plans, budgets and timelines. Implement, maintain and uphold operational guidelines at all levels of back and front of the house that represent the Company’s brand and operating philosophy and ensure the consistent delivery of our quality & customer service standards.
  • Improve and adapt Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) operational standards if required, such as staffing plans, human resources code of ethics, inventory systems, food safety programming, and an overall service plan and customer service strategy. Create SOP’s centralized best practices and assessment programs to evaluate and ensure uniform performance from location to location.
  • Train, coach and influence in all areas related to businesses of the brand and work cooperatively with General Managers and senior leadership in any territory including, but not limited to, Finance, Information Systems, Procurement, Human Resources, Food & Beverage, Retail and Marketing.
  • Serve as an internal resource and advisor in the areas of effective cost control, budgeting, forecasting, purchasing, inventory control, central production kitchen delivery and controls, catering programs, menu planning & pricing, loss prevention techniques.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of food and beverage management experience in a high-end restaurant, café, commissary or other relevant hospitality setting.
  • Diverse experience working in the restaurant and hospitality industry with the ability to make recommendations regarding operational best practices and quality control.
  • Affinity to work in luxury niche sector High end retail experience and strong customer service background.
  • Multi-unit and industry experience.
  • Experience working directly with owners’ partners and/or with joint venture partners; excellent communication skills (Fluency in English, oral and written).
  • A proven track record for opening and expanding a business, hiring talent and management, for mentoring teams and building operations.
  • Work in fast-paced environments, and big picture thinking.
  • Excellent negotiating and people skills.
  • Open to work in various multicultural settings for up to 6 months at a time, in South Africa and Middle East.
