Position Overview:
Under the direction of the President/CEO, the Director of Operations manages day-to-day processes, administration, and logistics, with the goal of increasing the capacity of NCM to plant locally sustained indigenous churches among unreached people groups in Africa. The position provides leadership and management to ensure the ministry has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people systems in place to foster financial health and operating efficiency. New Covenant Missions is poised for growth. In collaboration with the CEO, the Director of Operations position is intended to take NCM to the next level and expand God’s work in Africa.
Essentials Functions:
- Collaborate with the President/ CEO to communicate NCMs mission, vision, values, and strategic objectives to donors and friends of the ministry.
- Work with the CEO to implements systems that enlarge capacity for increased revenues, resources, and people served.
- Translate strategic objectives from the CEO and Board, into systems, processes, and personnel designed to achieve strategic objectives.
- Provide positive servant-leadership with both day-to-day and long-term focus; cultivating NCM’s core values within the organization.
- Collaborating with the President and other members of the NCM Leadership Team: Oversee all business contracts and agreements to ensure proper implementation and accounting, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with NCM’s Mission and strategic objectives
- While the Regional Directors report to the Pres/CEO, the Director of Operations will provide systems and administrative support to Regional and Country Directors in Africa. This will include monthly ministry reporting, data analysis, statistical tracking, IT infrastructure and support, program management processes, and policy implementation.
- Oversee administrative processes to ensure NCM’s daily operations run smoothly.
- Continually monitor best industry practices in comparison to internal systems and needed resources, with an eye toward both future needs and budget realities.
Personal Attributes:
- Must possess a clear sense of divine calling to NCM’s mission with a proven track record as an effective organizational leader
- Identifiable salvation experience with a strong, personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ; if married, models healthy family relationships; a pattern of spiritual development characterized by prayer, Bible study and active involvement in a local church or ministry. Possesses a high view of the authority and trustworthiness of God’s Word.
- Must have a passion for church planting, demonstrating a faith that “spills over” to others in the broader evangelical and Christian worlds, “ever ready to talk of the hope that is within,” and knowing that a strong prayer life is foundational.
- Must be an engaging and approachable individual, not given to hubris and self-absorption, willing to be evaluated, admit shortcomings, accept constructive criticism and change when appropriate.
- Relevant experience leading a for-profit or non-profit organization. Experience in leading a rapidly growing organization, implementing the required talent acquisition and building infrastructure capacity, is desirable.
- Skilled at collaborative processes, at the centre of a successful working relationship between a President, the board, senior staff, and other internal and external constituents. The Director of Operations should be known for a participative and collaborative spirit.
- Aptitude for online communication and ability to maintain Social Media accounts. Skill or willingness to learn how to grow a boarder social media presence to raise NCM profile and expand support base.
- Must wholeheartedly agree and affirm the organization’s theological convictions, as found in its Statement of Faith (see below) and be a champion of these in both precept and example.
- Good team builder with high EQ and effective interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task with diversity of projects, while having excellent organizational skills, follow-through, and dependability.
- Creates organizational clarity to address growing organization.
- Innovative and nimble – decisive in the face of the rapidly changing environment.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree preferred, with strong finance and faith-based operations experience with 5+ years in a senior management role is most desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in financial planning and analysis with previous experience overseeing employees and information technology related functions.
- Self-motivated, organized, disciplined, and efficient time manager. Ability to work with little direct oversight in a remote home office.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office software and database programs; capable of creating, interpreting and presenting management reports and effectively uses results to improve overall business operations.
- Willing and able to travel to NCM-related meetings, events and donor development opportunities as needed. (requires valid passport and basic travel immunizations)
