Description:

This full time salaried position is responsible for assisting with the management of all functions and operations of membership development and engagement for a five-county area, (Travis, Williamson, Burnet, Caldwell, and Hays). The role will help to oversee the member experience at GABC, as well as sell and sign individual, non-profit and corporate memberships within a five county area. A proactive approach is necessary for identifying qualified leads, developing and executing marketing through traditional and social media platforms, and pipeline management. The role will ensure a high level of customer service and engagement are provided to members, as well as assist with the development of growth strategies to enhance the organization. This position will also assist with the planning and execution of membership programs and initiatives, as well as integrating the needs of various departments. This person will act as the staff liaison to the Fund Development Committee. There may be additional tasks or projects as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Increases membership and retention rates sales
  • Coordinates renewals and lapsed member solicitations
  • Conducts member site visits and prospect meetings
  • Develop growth strategy focused on financial gain and customer satisfaction
  • Assists in volunteer management (also formal and informal recognition of volunteers)
  • Ensures reporting compliance on a monthly, bi-monthly, and quarterly basis (membership, committee, program income, etc)
  • Ensures membership materials are up to date
  • Assists in meeting all financial objectives through budget adherence
  • Assists in developing selling strategies that will positively affect membership
  • Efficiently seek opportunities to fundraise with all individuals including presenting to C-Level and above executives
  • Devise and execute sales strategies and tactics that result in exceeding sales goals and assist GABC in further penetrating the market.
  • Prospect, target, and build 3X the pipeline with prospective members.
  • Keep up to date membership record management system
  • Assist with Special Projects as necessary
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed
  • Leads event management process
  • Conduct research to gather procurement opportunities and local business education resources for distribution to members

Requirements:

  • Passion for the mission of GABC
  • 3-7 years entrepreneurial experience helpful
  • 3-7 years sales experience especially in the non-profit arena (knowledge of Austin’s African-American cultural experience and industry, including African American statistics and demographics. Helpful, but not required).
  • Knowledge of principles, practices and methodologies of advertising, public relations and sales techniques.
  • Success with establishing and maintaining a working relationship with public and private organizations.
  • Previous success with recognizing and responding to critical issues involving membership patterns, concerns and issues. Ability to develop a comprehensive strategy for membership.
  • Previous successful event development, fundraising experience and membership engagement.
  • Previous successful experience working with staff and volunteers in a supervisory capacity.
  • Recruit committee leadership and manage event committees needed to ensure success on all strategies and actions.
  • Must maintain discretion with regard to confidentiality and privacy.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, public speaking and community relations skills.
  • The employee may be required to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Manage outside event contractors responsible for executing event logistics.
  • 4 Year Degree in Business Management, Communications, Tourism & Hospitality Management, Marketing or equivalent of education and experience is preferred. Work experience may supplement subject matter focus.
