Description:

A logistics company based in Clair wood is looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Fleet Controller.

Minimum requirements:

  • Matric or grade 12.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in this field with traceable references.
  • Computer literacy including Outlook and Excel.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective internal and external relationship building via good communication.
  • Ensuring an effective control of company costs and assets.
  • Good time management and priority setting skills.
  • Must be able to take ownership and accountability of / for all related tasks.
  • Must have a questioning / probing mind with attention to detail.
  • Must have their own transport to and from work.

Duties:

  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.
  • Strategically plan and manage the fleet and usage.
  • Maintaining, recording and ensuring optimal driver productivity and utilization, including Safety Compliance.
  • Vehicle productivity Co-ordination and scheduling of drivers and vehicles including route planning and customer specific requirements.
  • Data capturing and summarizing of information.
  • Receiving and dispatching of containers.
  • Creating appointments, bulk checks using Navis.
  • Obtaining different sources for Fleet reporting – cost of truck per km, repair spend, fuel efficiency and usage.
  • Track and monitor fleet and drivers regularly to ensure that there is no unusual activity.
  • Ensure drivers are managed and regarding poor driving behavior.
  • Ensure debriefing of drivers are done daily.
  • Manage and ensure drivers are abiding by company policy and according to the contract with our clients.
  • Collecting and analysing all paperwork from drivers, e.g., trip sheets, order slips, fuel and toll slips.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Conflict Management
  • Customer services, liaising with clients and providing hourly updates.
  • Manage driver schedules, temp drivers, inductions, recruiting.
  • Must work well under pressure.

Note:

Please note that this position is NOT office based, the successful candidate will be required to be out in the field meeting the drivers daily, inspecting the fleet, attending to any planned / unplanned issues.
