Summary:
Use your artistic skills and creativity to contribute to self-determination and economic development by and for the African community! We are a perfect fit for painters, artists, and visual art students.
We are seeking an artist for our new furniture and accessories line: NZO – African Styles at Home and Abroad!
Lead workshops of volunteers to transform our donated furniture into vibrant, bold African patterned creations, using Fusion mineral paints and African patterned upholstery. The art will range from African-inspired prints and designs, to colour block effects, to use of stencil designs. You will use our current stencils, purvey new stencils, train volunteers, and create many beautiful pieces yourself.
We will provide the eco-friendly paints (zero VOC), brushes, stencils, pieces to be painted, and all other materials you need.

Knowledge, Skills, and Other Characteristics:
- Agreement with the mission statement and policies of APEDF.
- Knowledgeable about Uhuru Movement programs and institutions.
- Passionate about social justice and economic development for the African community.
- Painting experience and skill.
- Skill in oral communications in both one-on-one and group situations.
- Ability to lead and take direction from supervisors.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to paint for several hours.
- Ability to participate in set up and clean-up and other low weight activities.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with leading teams.
- Provide a good sample of your painting projects.
